You may be able to support your child’s healthy development and improve your community at the same time. Many communities have early childhood coalitions that bring together all kinds of people to solve big problems and make life better for children and families. These groups often can connect you with opportunities to advocate for your child and your community.
Check the list below to see if there is a coalition in your area. Visit their website, call them or send an email and ask how you can help make your community a great place to be a child. If you don’t find a coalition in your community, ask your child care center, Head Start program or preschool how you can become involved in their activities. Don’t be shy; you might meet some other moms or dads, and together you’ll find ways to help your kids and others be healthy, happy and ready for school.
